Evergreen fund — An open-ended structure with periodic subscriptions and limited periodic redemptions, rather than a fixed life. Increasingly common in the wealth channel.

Evergreen structures have grown rapidly in the wealth channel specifically because individual investors and their advisers generally want more flexibility than a ten-year lock-up allows — but the periodic redemption mechanics still need careful reading, since 'evergreen' doesn't mean unlimited daily liquidity.

Frequently asked questions

Is an evergreen fund the same as a mutual fund?
No — evergreen private funds still typically limit redemptions to periodic windows with caps on total redemption volume, unlike a mutual fund's daily liquidity.
Why have evergreen structures become more common?
Largely driven by wealth-channel demand — individual investors and their advisers want more flexibility than a traditional ten-year closed-end fund offers.
