About SeRuM

An independent capital introduction network, founded in 2024 and based in New York. Not a prime broker, not a placement agent, not attached to anyone's balance sheet.

SeRuM is an independent capital introduction network founded in 2024 and based in New York. We connect hedge funds, private equity and venture capital firms, real estate sponsors and established private companies with investors whose mandates fit what they are raising.

Why SeRuM exists

Capital introduction has traditionally been a prime brokerage service. The economics are straightforward: a prime broker earns from trade execution, financing and securities lending, so it introduces its hedge fund clients to allocators in order to grow their assets — and therefore its own revenue. Capital introduction is a value-added service, and the value flows toward the clients who pay the most for everything else.

The consequence is well documented across the industry. Rising regulatory and compliance costs have pushed the largest prime brokers to concentrate on larger funds. Smaller and newer managers struggle to be onboarded as prime brokerage clients at all, let alone to receive meaningful introduction support. Meanwhile private equity, real estate and private operating companies were never well served by the model in the first place, because they sit outside the prime brokerage relationship entirely.

That leaves a large population of credible issuers — good strategies, real track records, genuine investor demand — with no structured route to allocators beyond their own personal networks and cold outreach.

SeRuM was founded to serve exactly that population.

How we work

We assess before we accept

Not every raise is one we can help with. Before taking on a mandate we look at the strategy, the track record, the terms, the timeline and our own coverage of the relevant investor universe. If the raise is not fundable in its current form, or if we do not have genuine relationships in the segment you need, we tell you at the outset. Declining early is more useful to a manager than an engagement that quietly goes nowhere.

We match on mandate, not on volume

Traditional capital introduction is partly a volume exercise: events, speed-dating formats, broad introductions that may or may not fit. We work the other way around. We start from what an investor has actually told us they are looking for — asset class, strategy, ticket size, geography, stage, current deployment activity — and only then look for issuers that match. An introduction that wastes an allocator's time costs us more than it costs you.

We protect both sides of the network

Our investor relationships are the entire business. That imposes a discipline: we do not forward opportunities that do not fit, we do not overstate what we are introducing, and we do not treat our investor list as a broadcast channel. Investors continue to take our calls because we have not previously wasted their time. Managers benefit directly from that restraint.

We are direct about what happens next

Capital introduction is a top-of-funnel activity. Across the industry, conversion from first meeting to committed capital runs low, and allocators frequently spend six to eighteen months on diligence before committing. We tell managers this at the start, we relay feedback as we receive it rather than filtering it into optimism, and we do not promise outcomes we cannot control. What we control is whether the meeting is relevant.

What we don't do

  • We do not solicit investments. We introduce parties to one another. We do not pitch an offering on your behalf, encourage anyone to subscribe, or represent an issuer in the sale of securities.
  • We do not negotiate terms. Fees, structure, side letters and allocation size are matters between the manager and the investor.
  • We do not provide investment advice. We are not an investment adviser and make no recommendations about suitability.
  • We do not conduct diligence on an investor's behalf. We form our own view before deciding whether to work with an issuer, and we are explicit about what we have and have not verified — but that is a screening decision, not a diligence report.
  • We do not sell access to a list. Our investor relationships are not a product to be licensed.
  • We do not promise outcomes. No introducer controls whether an allocator commits.

Our investor network

We maintain relationships across the private investment landscape, including single and multi-family offices, registered investment advisers and wealth managers, fund of funds and multi-manager platforms, endowments and foundations, insurance and pension allocators, private investment clubs and syndicates, and qualified individual investors active in alternative assets.

We do not publish network counts. A number tells you nothing about mandate fit, which is the only thing that determines whether an introduction is worth making.

A note on this section. A leadership section with real names, backgrounds and links is one of the strongest trust signals available to a firm like this — for allocators and for AI answer engines alike. It has deliberately been left out rather than filled with placeholder text. Add it before you publish. See the README in this package.

Frequently asked questions

When was SeRuM founded?

SeRuM was founded in 2024 as an independent capital introduction network for private entities.

Where is SeRuM based?

SeRuM is based in New York, and works with managers and investors internationally.

Is SeRuM a broker-dealer?

No. SeRuM is not a registered broker-dealer. We provide introduction and networking services. We do not offer or sell securities, do not solicit investments, do not negotiate terms and do not provide investment advice.

Is SeRuM a placement agent?

No. A placement agent is engaged to raise capital for a specific offering, typically as a registered broker-dealer compensated on committed capital. Our role is to facilitate introductions and relationships. Negotiation, diligence and the investment decision sit entirely with the parties involved.

Does SeRuM work with emerging managers?

Yes. Emerging and first-time managers are a core part of our client base, precisely because they are the segment least served by prime brokerage capital introduction.

How do I start a conversation with SeRuM?

Email [email protected], call +1-212-466-6808, or use the contact form. Include your entity type, what you are raising, target size and timeline.

SeRuM provides introduction and networking services. We are not a registered broker-dealer, not a placement agent, and not an investment adviser. We do not offer, solicit or sell securities, we do not provide investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, and we do not make recommendations regarding any investment. Nothing on this website constitutes an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy any security, and no such offer will be made except through definitive offering documents provided by the issuer. All investment decisions, due diligence and negotiations are the sole responsibility of the parties involved. Investing in private funds and private companies involves substantial risk, including illiquidity and total loss of capital. Past performance is not indicative of future results.

Tell us what you're raising.

Entity type, target size, timeline. That's enough for us to tell you quickly whether we can help — and to say so plainly if we can't.
